Yu Mengtong (b. 1996) is a Beijing-based ceramic artist whose practice explores themes of life, space, and individual existence through the material language of clay. She obtained her BFA in 2018 and MFA in 2021 from the Department of Ceramic Art and Design at Tsinghua University, where she is currently pursuing her doctoral degree.
Yu's work has been featured in significant solo exhibitions including RECIPIENCE at Gallery Where, Beijing (2023), The Reverse Space at Cans Bookshop × Zhuzhong Art, Beijing (2023), and Moontide at Kulangsu Center of Contemporary Art, Xiamen (2022).
Her international recognition includes being a finalist for the 62nd Faenza Prize at The International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, Italy (2023), and twice a finalist for the "Blanc de Chine" International Ceramic Art Award (2019, 2023). She has participated in notable group exhibitions such as "Stilled Melody" at Tsinghua University Art Museum (2023), "A Moment for Eternity" in Qingdao (2023), and "Conversations" featuring Bai Ming and his students at Querini Museum, Venice (2018).
Yu's works are held in prestigious collections including the Faenza Art Foundation, Querini Stampalia Foundation, Kulangsu Center of Contemporary Art, Zhuzhong Art Museum, Tsinghua University Art Museum, and the Academy of Arts and Design at Tsinghua University.
